Fact Sheet: Planned Parenthood’s 2024-25 Annual Report
Abortions and Non-Abortion Services: Changes from Last Year and Long-Term Trends
- Planned Parenthood’s service data lags behind the rest of the information in the report – the 2024-25 report[1] contains information on services provided in 2023-2024.
- Planned Parenthood performed a record 434,450 abortions[2] in 2023-24 – an increase of over 32,200 (8%) from the previous year, and an increase of 34%[3] since 2014.
- The number of patients[4] increased by just 0.5% from the previous year and was down by 16% from 2014.
- In 2023-24, 97% of the time, women seeking help related to their pregnancy at Planned Parenthood were sold an abortion rather than given prenatal care, provided care for a miscarriage, or helped to make an adoption plan. Prenatal services, miscarriage care, and adoption referrals accounted for only 1.7% (7,685), 0.6% (2,852), and 0.7% (3,038) of these services, respectively.[5]
- For every adoption referral in 2023-24, Planned Parenthood performed 143 abortions.[6] Over the past 10 annual reports, the ratio was approximately 135 abortions for every one adoption referral.[7]
- According to data from Planned Parenthood’s own annual reports,[8] since 2014:
-
- Total services are up just 5%.
- With changing practice guidelines,[9] total cancer screening and prevention services have dropped by 43%, including declines of 55% for breast exams and 38% for pap tests.
- Prenatal services are down 56%.
- Contraceptive services are down 23%.
Planned Parenthood’s Financials
- In its 2024-25 annual report, Planned Parenthood reported over $2.1 billion in income[10] and nearly $2.5 billion in net assets.[11]
- $728.2 million came from private contributions, up 6% from the previous report.[12]
- Taxpayer funding is reported by Planned Parenthood’s affiliates, whose information lags behind the national office and covers fiscal years ending in 2024,[13] before Planned Parenthood was defunded of Medicaid dollars in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act in 2025.
- Taxpayer funding in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements hit $832 million, nearly $2.3 million per day[14] – an increase of $39.8 million from the previous report and representing 39% of Planned Parenthood’s overall revenue.[15]
- Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding has increased by 50% since 2014.[16]
- Planned Parenthood’s net loss of total revenue over total expenses is $29.3 million,[17] the first time in recent years that expenses exceeded revenue. Last year, Planned Parenthood reported an excess of total revenue over total expenses of $27.4 million.[18]

*The years on the graph denote the fiscal years that Planned Parenthood’s annual reports cover. As noted on pages 1 and 2, the service data and government funding data in those annual reports contain information on services provided for the prior year.
